Professional career

Simon Kehl joined our firm in 2021.

Before joining the firm, he worked in the legal department of a multinational consumer goods company, where he, among other responsibilities, developed and led the legal function for North America, managed the IP department, and was responsible for various major projects on group-level. Prior to that, Simon worked in the Corporate/M&A-team of a leading law firm in Zurich for several years.

Simon Kehl was educated at the University of St. Gallen (M.A. HSG in Law, 2006) and at the University of California, Berkeley (LL.M. 2013). He was admitted to the bar in 2008.

Simon Kehl is also a lecturer and publishes in his fields of expertise.

Area of Expertise

Simon Kehl advises entrepreneurs and corporate clients on all aspects of corporate and commercial law. He focuses on M&A transactions (mainly private M&A and private equity as well as transactions in the venture capital industry), commercial contract law on both the demand- and the supply-side of the business, as well as the implementation of large-scale strategic projects. In addition, he advises his clients on all matters of corporate and commercial law related to their daily operations, supports legal departments with their organizational and strategic needs, and advises startups regarding the implementation and financing of their business models.

Experience

  • Advising C-level executives and entrepreneurs on general corporate and commercial matters
  • Project lead on domestic and international M&A, private equity and venture capital transactions (sell-/buy-side)
  • Driving all legal aspects of a wide array of strategic initiatives in the world's largest consumer market
  • Managing large-scale projects such as the setup of a shared service organization and distribution networks, factory expansion projects, and adaptions to a large retail store portfolio
  • Regulatory investigations and management of a cyber crisis
  • Managing sensitive U.S. class action lawsuits and other significant litigation matters
  • Drafting and negotiating complex transaction documents as well as commercial contracts
  • Advising on set up of governance and organizational structures, including implementing effective compliance frameworks and corporate policies
  • Leading multi-jurisdictional due diligence exercises
